Another review of the National Curriculum is imminent. Is this to be a modification to the existing structure or something more substantial? Whichever the case, it is the opportunity to revisit some of the underpinning big ideas related to its purpose and design. For example, should the curriculum be developed from the bottom up and synchronized with the pattern of child development? Should it be presented in linear or list form, or as a map with different possible pathways? To prompt some thinking I have posted my notes of a four-minute presentation, which are extracted from a wider portfolio of notes prepared to respond to the current consultation.
